About half the roughly $100 million in aid to local governments sought by Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, Robins and Linn County in the aftermath of the 2020 derecho has been received so far from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The 19th HiBRAI (Hiawatha Bike Ride Around Iowa) takes place the weekend of Aug. 20 and 21. Riders will start at Hiawatha City Hall and follow mostly trails all the way down to Riverside

The RAISE Grant funding would pay for more than half the remaining costs and speed up the overall project’s timeline by more than a decade.
