My passion for journalism began as a freshman at Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids writing for the student newspaper. I take the responsibility of K-12 education reporter for The Gazette seriously, knowing that my interactions with students may be the first time they’ve spoken with a journalist. I love visiting Eastern Iowa schools and asking students what they want to be when they grow up, what their favorite subject is in school and why. And I get to speak with educators about the innovative ways they’re teaching their students. When I’m not reporting, I’m making dinner with my husband, at the dog park with our Goldendoodle, Sage, or reading a library book. Get the latest news delivered right to your inbox.
