Both the Cedar Rapids school board and City Council have now signed off on changes to the school resource officer program in an effort to reduce arrests and racial disparities.

The city of Cedar Rapids will create a grant program using, at most, $750,000 in federal American Rescue Plan funds to help nonprofits after the city paused payments of hotel-tax revenue.

$400,000 from state will be used to pave approximately 3 miles of the trail east of Highway 13 from Waldo’s Rock Park to Oxley Road. The trail was constructed a few years ago with a limestone surface in anticipation of hard surfacing it when funding was secured.

The caucuses' reputation has been damaged by high barriers to participation, a dearth of racial diversity in the state, the rightward drift in the state's electorate and a leftward drift in the Democratic participants. The state party's inability to count the results in 2020 only deepened dismay in the party.
