The market in Uptown Marion is held the second Saturday of June, July and August, as well as on the last Saturday of September from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Although this is delicious steaming hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it’s equally good at room temperature, or even popped into the refrigerator and served chilled.

The first Uptown Marion Market of the 2025 season will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday in City Square Park in Uptown Marion. Market vendors will have everything from fresh produce to baked goods and handcrafted artisan items.

The Saturday market hosts roughly 200 vendors who sell everything from fresh produce and flowers to crafts, baked goods and more.

Also in this week’s Government Notes, the Linn-Mar school board will vote on the district’s next fiscal year budget Monday.

The city of Cedar Rapids will host Resident Appreciation Day at the downtown Farmers’ Market on Saturday, with a T-shirt giveaway while supplies last and other activities.

The Downtown Cedar Rapids Farmers Market and the Iowa City Farmers Market are planning a return to the streets with numbers close to or exceeding prepandemic levels.

The Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department “made the difficult decision to cancel the Wednesday Farmers Market for at least the 2022 season,” according to an email vendors received. Not enough vendors signed up before the Feb. 15 deadline.

The Iowa City Council on Tuesday unanimously agreed to require all farmers market vendors carry liability insurance. Previously, only grilling vendors were required to carry that insurance.
