The governors, including Iowa’s Kim Reynolds, are proposing the federal government regulate E10 — the most common blend of ethanol currently available year-round — the same as E15, which has a higher ethanol blend and typically is cheaper.

The Biden administration announced Tuesday that the Environmental Protection Agency will issue an emergency action that will make the E15 blend of ethanol available through this summer. The action will cite the strain on the nation’s fuel supply caused by the Russian military’s invasion of Ukraine.

The president will make the announcement at an event scheduled for this afternoon at a biofuels processing plant in Guthrie County.

An official said Biden will speak to Iowans about his administration’s plans to address rising costs on consumers, and highlight investments in infrastructure, particularly in rural communities.

More than $233 million was bet on sports in March, an 8 percent increase over the previous month, and a 45 percent increase over the same month in 2021.

The president has traveled to other states in recent months to tout federal infrastructure funding.

Glenwood Resource Center, the state-operated facility for Iowans with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has been under scrutiny from the federal justice department. State leaders announced Thursday it will close in 2024.

This year’s first case was announced March 2, while in 2015 it did not appear in Iowa until April 20. With the disease being spread by wild birds, it could continue throughout the migratory season.

There appears to be some significant ground to cover before the Republican-led Iowa House and Senate reach an agreement on those issues.

The filing asks the district court to reverse a state panel’s decision, or require the panel to reconsider the objections to the signatures on Finkenauer’s nominating petitions for his U.S. Senate bid.

The state said it is shipping unused protective helmets and vests from state and local law enforcement agencies to Ukraine, where they will be donated with the hope of helping Ukrainian military forces and citizens.

Alan Ostergren, a conservative lawyer who argued on behalf of many of the challenges, said some of the petitioners now may contest some of the panel’s rulings in court.
