U.S. Marshals capture man wanted for attempted murder in Marion

MARION - A man wanted for attempted murder in Illinois was arrested in Marion on Tuesday.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, 19-year-old Joshua M. Jones was arrested at a residence in the 2900 block of 18th Avenue on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities said Jones was found in the basement of the residence and captured without incident.

Jones was wanted by the Henry County Circuit Court in Cambridge, Ill. for attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery. Authorities said he is the suspect in an incident alleged to have occurred last month.

Jones was believed to have fled the state following the incident and the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force was tabbed to track him down. The search for Jones was narrowed to Marion and members of the Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force, along with Marion police officers, took him into custody.

Jones is in custody at the Linn County Jail and awaiting extradition back to Illinois.
