Two arrested in December shooting in Cedar Rapids

Feb. 13, 2023 1:47 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS — Two people were arrested over the weekend in relation to a shots fired incident that happened in December, and further arrests are expected, according to a news release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
Jesse Scott, 19, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Sunday and is charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon and accessory after the fact.
Jaden Hodges, 19, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Saturday and is charged with accessory after the fact.
Scott was driving a red car on Dec. 2, in which Hodges and two others were passengers, according to criminal complaints. The car was spotted outside a house at 392 18th St SE, where surveillance video showed an individual matching Scott’s description and clothing firing at the house several times.
The car then drove away, and was stopped by police within minutes, the complaint states. A gun found under the passenger seat of the car was later found to match the bullets found at the house. All of the individuals in the car denied knowing anything about the shooting and refused to cooperate with officers.
Hodges and Scott both had their initial appearances Monday in court. Hodges was released under the supervision of the Department of Corrections, and Scott is being held on a $20,000 cash or surety bond.
