WEST UNION - A Fayette County man is accused of seriously injuring a boy.
According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, on Friday, the boy - who is not identified - showed up at school with suspicious injuries. Police said the child was taken to a hospital, where he was diagnosed with serious injuries.
The sheriff's office investigated the boy's injuries and, as a result, charged Kenneth J. Becker, 37, of Hawkeye, with child endangerment causing serious injury, a Class D felony. The boy's relationship with Becker was not specified by authorities.
Police said the Department of Human Services was notified of the child endangerment. DHS investigated and removed the boy from his home. He was placed with family members, the sheriff's office reported.
Becker posted a $10,000 cash bond and has been released from custody. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison.
