Jan. 23, 2015 11:49 am
CEDAR RAPIDS - The suspect in the Jan. 7 Wal-Mart shooting has been arrested.
According to the Cedar Rapids Police Department, around 4:40 p.m. Thursday, police engaged in a foot chase with 20-year-old Brandon F. Johnson in the 1000 block of 10th Street SE. Police surrounded the area and used a K9 officer to track Johnson, who was arrested in the 1000 block of 12th Avenue SE.
Police said they questioned Johnson and later charged him with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, interference with official acts, driving while barred and having no insurance after their investigation showed that Johnson was the one who fired several rounds in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart on Blairs Ferry Road the evening of Jan. 7. There were no injuries or property damage in that shooting.
Johnson is the second person arrested in connection with the shooting. Earlier this month, 24-year-old Samalina A. Alicea was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit a forcible felony in connection with the shooting.
