OXFORD - An Oxford man is accused of assaulting someone who suffered a brain bleed.
Eugene Beard, 37, of 1813 Lower Old Highway 6, got in a fight around 12:04 a.m. Tuesday at that same address but at a different mobile home, according to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said Beard hit another person several times in the head with his closed fist.
The victim - who is not identified in the criminal complaint - suffered bleeding, bruising, a broken bone in the face and brain bleeding. The brain bleed will require surgery to repair, the sheriff's office said.
Beard left the person in the snow and fled but was later found. He admitted to the assaulting the victim, authorities said. He was arrested and faces one count of willful injury causing serious injury, a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
