PALO - One person was injured Tuesday in a crash south of Palo.
According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office deputies, the Palo Fire Department and Hiawatha Ambulance service responded to a crash at 7:26 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Covington and Chain Bridge roads.
Authorities said Kari McDowell, 34, of Cedar Rapids was driving too fast on the snow and ice-covered road and began to lose control of her vehicle. She fishtailed, crossed the centerline and collided with a vehicle heading south driven by Jason Rimrodt, 43, of Palo. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and McDowell was taken to Unity Point-St. Luke's Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged in the crash, authorities said. McDowell was cited for failure to maintain control.
