IOWA CITY - A Missouri man is accused of possessing two pounds of marijuana.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, officers were called to the 400 block of South Johnson Street around 1:30 a.m. Friday after receiving information about a subject from Missouri delivering a large amount of marijuana. Police said they found a man matching the subject's description, as well as several other subjects, going in and out of an apartment building to the subject's car.
Police stopped the man, identified as Nathan J. Sandbothe, 22, of Kirksville, Mo., a short distance away from the apartment. Police said they found approximately two pounds of marijuana and a large amount of cash.
Sandbothe appeared to be high and showed 'measurable impairment” on field sobriety tests, police said. An evaluation from a drug recognition expert determined that Sandbothe was high and unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Police arrested Sandbothe and he now faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, a Class D felony; Iowa drug tax stamp violation, a Class D felony; and operating under the influence, a serious misdemeanor.
