Apr. 2, 2018 12:12 pm
IOWA CITY - Iowa City police said they recovered two handguns and a stash of drugs when responding to a domestic dispute late last year.
According to criminal complaints, officers were called to the 800 block of Davenport Street on Dec. 18, 2017, for a report of a domestic dispute. While searching the area for a suspect in the dispute, 31-year-old Cordaro T. Williams, officers said they found multiple bags and two cereal boxes in the 800 block of Fairchild Street.
Police said they found a 9 mm handgun, four rounds and a large bag of marijuana inside the cereal boxes. Under the bags was a second 9 mm handgun, police said.
Officers searched the bags and found marijuana 'packaged for sale,” two small bags of a white substance that tested positive for cocaine, seven multicolored pills that tested positive for meth, and numerous other items, including a PlayStation 4. The PlayStation 4 was determined to belong to Williams, police said.
Williams, a felon who has been in custody since Jan. 12, faces charges of controlled substance violation, possession of a controlled substance - third or subsequent offense, dominion of a firearm by a felon and Iowa drug tax stamp violation.
