Funerals set for children killed in I-80 crash

CEDAR RAPIDS - Funeral arrangements have been made for the three Cedar Rapids boys killed in a car crash on Interstate 80 last weekend.

KaDaess J. Adams-Quarterman, 12, his brother Oneimus 'Oskee” E.J. Quarterman, 11, and Braden E. Brown, 12, were killed Sunday. Authorities and family members said the boys were returning home from a birthday party in Williamsburg, traveling on I-80 when the driver of the vehicle, 62-year-old Terrance J. Edwards of Cedar Rapids, attempted to make a U-turn and was hit by a semi. Edwards, who is Braden's grandfather, and 11-year-old Mason Brown, Braden's brother, were injured in the crash but are expected to recover.

The visitation for KaDaess and Oneimus is scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Their funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at New Covenant Bible Church in Cedar Rapids.

Visitation for Braden will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Brosh Chapel and the Avacentre in Cedar Rapids. Celebration of life services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ludmila Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.

A sixth-grade student at Prairie Creek School, KaDaess enjoyed baseball and 'dreamed of being a football player when he grew up,” according to his obituary.

'He was book smart and a computer whiz,” the obituary states. 'By the age of 3, KaDaess had figured out phone technology. He was a sensitive soul with a beautiful smile and a beautiful laugh.”

Oneimus was a fifth-grade student at Prairie Creek Intermediate School with 'an infectious smile,” according to his obituary. Oneimus was dribbling a basketball by age 2 and looked up to Steph Curry, the obituary said.

'He was rambunctious and had extreme ambition in everything he did,” the obituary states.

The brothers were inseparable best friends who loved to play Fortnite together and were protective of their family, the obituary said.

Braden attended Prairie Point Middle School. He was involved with choir, band, cooking club and baseball, according to his obituary.

'He enjoyed playing video games, watching fireworks and spending time with his family,” his obituary states.

The crash is under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
