A Randalia man is facing charges after Fayette County sheriff’s deputies say they found over 300 marijuana plants and 58 firearms — including loaded assault-style rifles — in his house.
Clyde Taylor Pickett, 75, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count each of possession with intent to deliver marijuana and failure to affix drug tax stamp.
According to criminal complaints, Pickett was arrested Monday after he drove a 1996 Cadillac Seville into a ditch in rural Fayette County. The Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, where deputies found a large bag of green plant material later identified as marijuana.
A search warrant was conducted Monday evening on Pickett’s house in Randalia, and deputies reported they found more than 300 marijuana plants, as well as multiple pounds of prepared marijuana and various tools for growing the plants.
There were also 58 firearms, including loaded assault rifles, shotguns and pistols. They were seized from Pickett’s home, a sheriff’s office news release states.
Pickett had his first appearance on the charges in court Tuesday and was being held in the Fayette County Jail on $5,000 bail.
