CEDAR RAPIDS - A Chicago man has been arrested in connection with a residential burglary.
According to Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow, police responded to a residential burglary that had occurred Wednesday in the northwest quadrant. Investigators gathered evidence at the home and used that evidence to identify 25-year-old Erik Williams as a suspect. Williams and two other men were found in a vehicle near Mount Vernon Road and 14th Street SE on Thursday.
A handgun was found in the vehicle, Buelow said.
All three occupants of the vehicle were arrested. Williams faces charges of third-degree burglary, second-degree theft and fifth-degree criminal mischief. The driver, 21-year-old Dante Glinn of Cedar Rapids, was charged with possession of crack cocaine, driving while barred and two traffic violations. The other passenger, 22-year-old Leslie Stokes, address unknown, was charged with providing false information. Stokes also had a warrant out for his arrest out of Johnson County.
Buelow said some women's jewelry was recovered that might have been stolen. Anyone whose jewelry was stolen within the last week and can provide a detailed description or proof of ownership is asked to file a report at the police station, 505 First St. SW.
