Cedar Rapids woman faces child endangerment charge

CORALVILLE - A Cedar Rapids woman faces a child endangerment charge for providing inadequate care for her infant daughter while intoxicated.
Coralville police were called to the Best Western, 704 First Ave., at 10:45 a.m. Sunday for a report of a drunk woman with a baby in the parking lot. Responding officers encountered 39-year-old Angelica C. Schultz in the parking lot carrying her baby, a 6-month-old, in a car seat.
Police said Schultz was drunk and was arrested for public intoxication.
The woman, apparently believing she was in Cedar Rapids, told officers she was trying to get to the northeast side.
Police said it was around 39 degrees at the time and Schultz' daughter was wearing only a dress with nothing covering her bare legs. There was a hat in the car seat, but the girl was not wearing it. A small blanket also fell off the child when Schultz set the car seat down.
Schultz told the officers she had come to the Best Western an hour ago and her boyfriend had taken the car, police said. She had no other child care items with her.
In addition to public intoxication, Schultz also faces one count of child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor.
