Jul. 17, 2014 1:42 pm
A Cedar Rapids man led officers on a brief chase Wednesday night.
According to police, the chase began around 11 p.m. when officers spotted a man, later identified as 35-year-old Keith C. Spahn. When the officers attempted to pull Spahn over at 12th Street and 16th Avenue SW, he sped off northbound on 12th Street, police said.
During the pursuit, police noted numerous violations. Spahn hit speeds of 50 mph in 25 mph and 30 mph zones, failed to stop when required at intersections and went the wrong way on a one-way street in the 2300 block of Third Street SW.
Spahn was stopped in the 3000 block of Outlook Drive SW. Police said he had ethyl ether and pseudoephedrine - two substances commonly used to produce methamphetamine - in his vehicle. He was arrested and faces two counts of possession of a meth precursor, attempting to elude and numerous traffic violations.
