CEDAR RAPIDS - Cedar Rapids firefighters quickly knocked down a residential fire Monday morning.
Firefighters were called to 638 Memorial Drive at 4:39 a.m. for a report of a fire coming from the roof of a 1.5 story home. Crews responded to find everyone was out of the house.
Firefighters entered the home through the front door and went to the second floor of the residence, where the ceiling was pulled away to expose a fire in the attic area. The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes of crews arriving on scene, according to the fire department.
The home sustained fire, smoke and heat damage to the attic area and water damage throughout. There were no reported injuries to the residents or firefighters.
The electrical fire was determined to have started with a fan in the attic, according to the fire department.
