CEDAR RAPIDS — The Cedar Rapids/Linn County Solid Waste Agency is holding an informational public open house on Thursday regarding the ongoing Forward 2044 waste planning process. Cedar Rapids and Linn County residents are encouraged to attend to learn more about what will happen after the current Marion landfill and recycling location closes permanently on June 30, 2044.
The open house will be held on Thursday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, 1400 Inspiration Pl. SW. This is an open house meeting with no formal presentation. Light refreshments will be provided and those in attendance can enter a drawing for a $50 gift card.
For those unable to attend in person, a virtual presentation will be uploaded to the agency’s Facebook page on Thursday.
The open house will include information about the waste agency’s role and operations within the Cedar Rapids and Linn County communities, as well as describing options under consideration by the board of directors, such as alternative technologies, industry best practices, and potential solution implementation timeline.
