Johnson County special election for Janelle Rettig’s Board of Supervisors seat takes place Tuesday

Jun. 7, 2021 9:41 am, Updated: Jun. 7, 2021 2:49 pm
IOWA CITY — The special election for an open seat on the Johnson County Board of Supervisors is Tuesday.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Voting takes place at regular voting locations.
Three men are vying for the open seat on the board:
— Brian Campbell, Independent
— Jon Green, Democrat
— Phil Hemingway, Republican
Whoever is elected Tuesday will serve the remainder of Janelle Rettig’s term, which expires Dec. 31, 2022. Rettig announced her resignation in April, and county officials voted to host a special election rather than appoint someone to fill the rest of the term.
The county’s five supervisors are paid $84,836 a year.
