The Ankeny Republican will run for re-election this year in the newly drawn Iowa Senate District 23, which encompasses the rural, northern areas of Polk County outside the city of Ankeny.

The campaign arm of U.S. House Democrats on Thursday announced it has placed two Iowa candidates, Liz Mathis and Christina Bohannan, in its program that works to help Democrats win U.S. House races against Republican incumbents.

Candidates for office in Iowa are beginning to inundate the Secretary of State’s Office with their nominating signatures, which place them on the ballot for this fall’s midterm elections.

Congresswoman Ashley Hinson made her re-election campaign official Monday, submitting more than 6,600 nominating signatures to the Iowa Secretary of State’s office, according to a news release.

David Young, who previously served central Iowa in Congress, announced Monday he is running for the Iowa Legislature. Also, Rick Stewart and Marco Battaglia will run as the Libertarian Party of Iowa’s ticket in the state’s race for governor.

Patty Judge, the former state agriculture secretary and lieutenant governor, has endorsed Mike Franken in the Democratic primary in Iowa’s U.S. Senate campaign. Also, former Congressman Dave Loebsack has endorsed in Iowa’s Secretary of State Democratic primary.

Iowa Sen. Zach Wahls will seek re-election, Matt Pries will challenge Sen. Jack Whitver, and more endorsements for Abby Finkenauer in U.S. Senate race against Chuck Grassley.

All Republican state legislators in eastern Iowa’s new 2nd Congressional District have endorsed Ashley Hinson for Congress, Hinson’s campaign said.

The Collective PAC, which works to increase Black Americans’ engagement in politics, endorsed Deidre DeJear’s campaign for governor.

Gov. Kim Reynolds’ re-election campaign announced that it raised nearly $3.8 million in 2021 and finished the year with nearly $4.8 million its account. She faces re-election this year.
