After opening a new distribution center in Iowa City and taproom in Cedar Rapids last year, one of Iowa’s largest craft breweries is set to head west with wide scale distribution and its first taproom outside of Iowa.

Brew tanks were recently installed at Big Grove Brewery’s new distribution center in Iowa City. They will help the company increase its beer production by more than 50 percent in 2024.

After years of planning, Big Grove Brewery is set to crack open a new taproom in Cedar Rapids and a new distribution facility in Iowa City that will increase production by more than 50% next year.

“For the second time this year, Iowa breweries have been recognized as some of the best and brightest,” said Iowa Brewers Guild executive director Noreen Otto. “When Iowans drink local, they’re drinking some of the best craft beer in the world.”

Big Grove Brewery in Iowa City has awarded four grants of $8,000 each to organizations focusing on shelter, food insecurity, and more.

Construction is underway of a Big Grove Brewery in the heart of Cedar Rapids, bringing the award-winning local beer to the city this fall. The city council also signs off on new commercial facility, larger Lil’ Drug expansion.

This month, breweries across Iowa are taking advantage of new changes that modernize Iowa’s alcohol laws for the first time in decades.

The $81.5 million First and First West project roughly doubles the investment in Kingston Village. Plans to fill the flood-damaged site with a casino were dashed, but the Cedar Rapids neighborhood quickly grew while the prime real estate sat empty.
