CEDAR RAPIDS – It’s a week where the 40 ranked teams remain the same as last week for the most part, with just a little shuffling around here and there.
Cedar Falls, Clear Lake, Western Christian and Bellevue Marquette stay atop their respective classes in the Iowa High School Athletic Association boys’ basketball poll, released Monday.
Cedar Falls is 15-2, as is No. 2 West Des Moines Valley in Class 4A. Linn-Mar (16-3) moved up from fourth to third after a huge week that saw them beat two ranked teams in Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Cedar Rapids Prairie.
Kennedy (14-4) also lost this past Saturday to No. 4 Waukee Northwest by 29 points, dropping from third to sixth. Dubuque Senior (14-2) of the Mississippi Valley Conference inched up to fifth.
Linn-Mar and Senior play Friday night at Dubuque. Senior also hosts Class 1A top-ranked Bellevue Marquette on Monday night.
Speaking of 1A, Madrid (19-0) and Marcus/Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen-Union (18-2) stay at second and third, respectively. North Linn (18-3) moves from 10 th to eighth.
Coon Rapids-Bayard (seventh) and Burlington Notre Dame (10 th ) move into the poll, with Remsen St. Mary’s and Algona Garrigan dropping out. They are the only four teams in all the classes to go in and out.
Clear Lake (18-0), Decorah (17-1), Knoxville (17-0) and Huxley Ballard (15-1) remain the top four teams, in that order, in Class 3A. Cedar Rapids Xavier (13-6) stays at No. 10.
In 2A, Western Christian (17-3) lost this past Saturday to Waukee but stays a solid No. 1. Cascade (17-3) creeped down from seventh to eighth after a Saturday loss to 3A No. 6 Waverly-Shell Rock.
