I had no plans on being a journalist until a friend learned of an editorial fellowship opportunity at The Gazette and asked himself, “Who do I know in Cedar Rapids who has an opinion on everything?” After the successful completion of my editorial fellowship, I joined the staff at the newspaper I grew up reading, where I review letters to the editor and write a weekly opinion column.
Before I joined The Gazette, I did some cool freelance jobs and was active in political organizing and grassroots campaigning. I also continue to work in a seasonal role with my county elections department.
Outside of work, there’s nothing I love more than a good laugh, a good meal, and a good time with friends and family. I also love a good hand of cribbage, a good round of trivia, and a good football game. Go Cyclones!
