Melanie Schweiss of Cedar Rapids will be the third Cedar Rapids area contestant to appear on Wheel of Fortune in the last two months.
Schweiss, a graduate of Mount Mercy University, will appear on the game show on Monday. Schweiss works as an assistant in an area public library. She enjoys reading, jazzercising, trying new coffee shops, and seeing shows at Theatre Cedar Rapids, according to the game show.
Schweiss has been tuning in to 'Wheel of Fortune” since she was little. She said that even when she's at work, she is sure to call out to her co-workers when it's Wheel of Fortune time. After years of playing along at home, Schweiss decided to put her puzzle-solving skills to the test by attending a Wheelmobile event in Osceola in hopes of becoming a contestant.
'Wheel of Fortune” airs at 6:30 p.m. on NBC's KWWL.
Schweiss will appear during 'Great American Cities” week on Wheel of Fortune.
Last month, Josh Hillman of Cedar Rapids won $37,000 and a trip to Jamaica on the game show, and Steven Posey of Marion won $7,167 and a Panama Canal cruise.
