Cedar Rapids, Marion schools splitting $126,000 through Hy-Vee’s Cash 4 Students program

CEDAR RAPIDS - Hy-Vee stores in Cedar Rapids and Marion are donating more than $126,000 to 97 local schools that participated in the business' Cash 4 Students program.
As part of the program, students collect Hy-Vee receipts and receive $1 for their school for every $200 spent.
This year, the average Hy-Vee donation is $1,284, spokeswoman Kristy Staker said. The money is being handed out beginning at noon Friday during an event at Physicians' Clinic of Iowa, 202 10th St. SE in Cedar Rapids.
The largest check - $6,565.84 - is being given to Trinity Lutheran School, 1361 7th Ave. SW, which collected $1.3 million in Hy-Vee receipts.
Other top-earning schools, which all collected more than $500,000 in receipts, are:
- All Saints, 720 29th St. SE; $4,238
- Cleveland Elementary, 2200 First Ave. NW; $4,213
- Indian Creek Elementary, 2900 Indian Creek Road, Marion; $3,240
- Echo Hill Elementary, 400 Echo Hill Road, Marion; $3,198
- Erskine Elementary, 600 36th St. SE; $3,176
- Grant Elementary, 254 Outlook Drive SW; $2,920
- Holy Family School System-St. Jude Center, 3700 Frist Ave. NW; $2,794
- Springville, 400 Academy St., Springville; $2,749.74
- Xavier High, 6300 42nd St. NE; $2,595
During the check presentation, three schools are to be chosen at random to win a bonus $500 in Hy-Vee gift cards.
In its fourth year, the Cedar Rapids and Marion Hy-Vee stores have cumulatively donated more than $400,000 to area schools.
