An Illinois man has died following a traffic collision Tuesday morning on Highway 38 in Cedar County.
William Ryan, 72, of Creve Coeur, was driving northbound near Highway 38 and 306th Street when his vehicle entered a right turn lane and abruptly attempted a U-turn, according to an Iowa State Patrol report.
A semi-truck driven by Dennis Baker, 72, of Des Moines, hit Ryan's pickup in a T-bone fashion, authorities said.
Ryan was taken to St. Luke's Hospital. Another man, William Holford, 71, of Morton, Illinois, was taken in an ambulance to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with injuries.
Both men were wearing seat belts.
The incident remains under investigation.
