CEDAR RAPIDS - Three people have been arrested in connection with an incident on Dartmouth Street that sent two people to the hospital earlier this week.
According to criminal complaints and the Cedar Rapids Police Department, 21-year-old Michael Jurenic, of Cedar Rapids, and Austin Holtan, 20, of LeMars, entered a residence at 59 Dartmouth St. SW with the intent to assault and rob the occupants, one of which was 19-year-old Nickola Glisic.
Police said during the break-in, a fight broke out, resulting in injuries to Jurenic and others.
According to Cedar Rapids Police Spokesman Greg Buelow, both Holtan and Jurenic suffered non-life-threatening stab wounds. Glisic had minor injuries as well. All of them showed up to the hospital at different times.
The investigation into the matter started around 5 a.m. when a stabbing victim arrived at St. Luke's Hospital. Roughly an hour later, a second man also showed up at the hospital. He was injured, but had not been stabbed. Police have not identified which subjects were the ones who came to the hospital.
Police investigated the injuries, which led them to the Dartmouth Street residence. Based on their investigation at the home, Glisic was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both Jurenic and Holtan face charges of first-degree burglary, a Class B felony; and second-degree robbery, a Class C felony. If convicted, the men could face up to 35 years in prison.
