CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man is accused of leading police on a chase Sunday afternoon.
Cedar Rapids communications manager Maria Johnson said around 4:49 p.m. Sunday, Cedar Rapids police spotted 19-year-old Deshawn L. Hull driving in the area of First Avenue and 16th Street East. Hull had an outstanding arrest warrant for two counts of assault causing bodily injury.
Police tried to stop Hull, but he refused to pull over. A chase lasting roughly five minutes ensued, Johnson said. The pursuit ended in the 900 block alley between Maplewood Drive and 16th Street NE. Hull got out of the car he was driving and fled on foot, but was captured a short distance away, Johnson said.
A passenger in Hull's vehicle, 18-year-old D'Quon Morrow, also fled from the vehicle and was caught by officers.
In addition to the outstanding charges, Hull now faces charges of eluding, reckless driving, interference with official acts, no valid driver's license and numerous traffic charges.
Morrow faces one count of interference with official acts.
