CORALVILLE - A Dubuque woman is accused of driving under the influences of a narcotic with her child in the vehicle.
According to Coralville police criminal complaints, 30-year-old Stephanie M. Toth was pulled over for speeding in the 600 block of First Avenue just before 1 p.m. on Nov. 4. Police said when they approached Toth, they noticed her making 'evasive and furtive movements” and trying to hide something.
Toth was shaking, had dilated pupils and had needle marks on her wrists and hands. Although Toth denied using alcohol or drugs, a syringe containing a liquid was found in the vehicle.
Police said an exam by a drug recognition expert determined Toth was under the influence of a narcotic analgesic and was incapable of safely operating a motor vehicle. Police said a child was a passenger in the vehicle.
Toth has a revoked license, police said. She has 10 indefinite suspensions for non-payment of Iowa fines or child support dating back to 2009, is suspended as a habitual offender and has yet to meet the requirements of Drinking Driver School, Substance Abuse Evaluation, having an ignition interlock device and still owes $600 in penalties police said.
Toth was arrested and faces charges of operating while under the influence - second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor; child endangerment, a misdemeanor; and driving while revoked, a serious misdemeanor.
