Fire causes $15,000 in damage to Iowa City home

IOWA CITY - A house fire caused an estimated $15,000 in damage to an Iowa City home early Friday morning.
The Iowa City Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1906 Rochester Court at 1:12 a.m. Friday. Responding units found smoke visible from the eaves of the home. The fire was primarily located in the attic space of the single-story home.
Fire crews - assisted by the Johnson County Ambulance Service, Iowa City Police Department and Mid-American Energy - were on the scene for 75 minutes. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental.
All of the home's occupants were out when crews arrived and there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters reported.
