Heroin, marijuana found in Iowa City apartment

IOWA CITY - Police said they seized heroin and marijuana from an Iowa City residence on Wednesday.
Members of the Johnson County Drug Task force executed a search warrant at 1100 Arthur St. at 1:19 p.m. Wednesday. Police said during a search of unit J-10, the residence of 25-year-old Jacquinn L. Dawson, officers found approximately 70 grams of heroin hidden inside a freezer. Police also found marijuana in the residence.
Dawson was arrested and faces charges of controlled substance violation, a Class C felony; Iowa drug tax stamp violation, a Class D felony; and possession of a controlled substance - third or subsequent offense, an aggravated misdemeanor. If convicted of all the charges, Dawson could spent up to 17 years in prison.
Dawson has prior drug convictions from 2007 and 2009, police said.
