CEDAR RAPIDS - A Cedar Rapids man was cited after discharging a firearm during an argument Monday.
Cedar Rapids police responded to a report of a shot fired during an argument in the 1300 block of H Avenue NE at 6:42 p.m. Monday. Public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said officers learned 22-year-old Chris Cungtion, who lived at the address where the call originated, fired a gun into the ground.
Cungtion was taken into custody, cited with reckless use of a firearm and signed a promise to appear in court on a later date. Because the shot fired did not result in any injuries or property damage, the offense is only a simple misdemeanor, punishable by up to 30 days in jail.
