Arrest made in Monday stabbing in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS - An arrest has been made in a Monday stabbing.
Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said 30-year-old Shayne Kemmerling was arrested Tuesday for an incident in the 1900 block of K Street SW on Monday in which a man was stabbed twice. Court records indicate the victim was stabbed in the back and chest, causing a collapsed lung that required surgery.
Kemmerling, of Cedar Rapids, has been charged with assault with a weapon and willful injury. He was convicted in March of second-degree theft and operating a vehicle without the owner's consent, and also has prior convictions for assault, domestic assault and drug-related charges.
