IOWA CITY - A dispute over a phone charger led to criminal charges for an Iowa City man.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, officers were called to a residence in the 800 block of Bowery Street around 11:30 p.m. Aug. 21 for a report of a man who was drunk and upset over his phone charger being moved.
Police said the man, 27-year-old Adam E. Cole, punched holes in the walls and stabbed the walls with a knife. He also allegedly threw glass bottles on the ground and threatened to cut the hands off one person.
Cole threatened to stab another person in the residence, police said. He also shoved one person into a refrigerator.
Officers found Cole a few blocks away from the residence. Police said he admitted to being in the argument, wielding the knife and having 'too much to drink.” A breath test showed he had a blood alcohol content of .168 percent.
Cole faces charges of first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor, and public intoxication and disorderly house, both simple misdemeanors.
