ICPD responds to fake bomb threat

IOWA CITY — The Iowa City Police Department is investigating a fake threat in which a man claimed to have a bomb and hostages at a downtown business.
According to a police department news release, officers responded to US Bank, 204 E. Washington St., at 12:14 a.m. Sunday after a man called in and said he was holding hostages there. The man also told police he had a gun and a bomb.
Police responded to the bank and confirmed that it was closed and that no one was inside.
Anyone with information about this threat is asked to contact the Iowa City Police Department.
