CEDAR RAPIDS - Three people face meth-related charges after a brief foot chase.
According to Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow, Cedar Rapids police officers were helping the Department of Corrections around 1:45 a.m. Friday to find David A. Janish, 31, of Cedar Rapids, on an outstanding warrant. Buelow said Janish was found in southwest Cedar Rapids and led officers on a short foot chase.
Police said Janish ran into an apartment building, and officers followed him inside. Officers said they found items used to manufacture meth and a possible meth lab in plain view inside the apartment. Police came back with a warrant and took several people into custody for questioning. The following people were charged:
l Janish, with manufacturing meth, two counts of possession of precursors and interference with official acts.
l William R. Carson, 29, a resident of the Hope House residential treatment facility in Coralville; aiding and abetting the manufacturing of meth and one count of possession of precursors.
l Matthew W. Shepherd, 29, of Cedar Rapids; aiding and abetting manufacturing meth, possession of precursors, preventing apprehension, gathering for use of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Two others were cited for disorderly house.
