HIAWATHA - The man shot in Hiawatha Sunday morning remains hospitalized and the shooter remains at large.
Hiawatha Police Chief Dennis Marks said Wednesday the shooting remains under investigation, but he was hesitant to release information on the case at this time.
'We're going in a good direction with it,” Marks said. 'It's just going to take us a little bit of time to put together.”
No arrests have been made in the case and the victim is still in the hospital, Marks said.
Hiawatha police responded to the 800 block of Brandon Avenue around 1:30 a.m. Sunday and discovered a man who had been shot. During the investigation, officers noticed a vehicle matching the description of one allegedly belonging to the shooting suspects. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver was arrested on traffic charges. Investigators also found a gun along the path the vehicle traveled.
Police said others in the vehicle fled the scene.
