CORALVILLE - Coralville police criminal complaints provide extra details on the domestic incident Kenneth Johns is accused of committing days before he abducted his 10-year-old stepdaughter.
According to police, around 5:30 a.m. March 3, Johns forced his way into the residence where his wife and stepdaughter were residing. Once inside, police said Johns pointed a loaded 9 mm handgun at his wife and demanded her debit cards and cellphone.
Johns allegedly told his wife that if she didn't comply, he would kill her. He then took his wife and stepdaughter to a hotel, police said.
Four days later, police said Johns abducted his stepdaughter from a residence in Solon, triggering an Amber Alert. On Wednesday, he was charged with second-degree kidnapping, carrying weapons and possession of a firearm as a felon for that incident.
For the March 3 incident, Johns faces charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, first-degree harassment and domestic abuse while displaying or using a weapon.
