Police: Iowa City woman rear-ends ex’s truck after breakup

IOWA CITY - An Iowa City woman is accused of rear-ending her ex after he broke up with her.

According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, the victim broke up with 28-year-old Shawna M. Olsen-Zipse around 2 p.m. Monday. Police said Olsen-Zipse responded by biting her ex on his arm, breaking the skin and causing redness and swelling.

Police said the victim left the residence in his pickup truck. As he was southbound on Lucas Street and stopped at the stop sign at Kirkwood Avenue, Olsen-Zipse - who had been following her ex in her vehicle - accelerated and intentionally rear-ended the truck. Her vehicle was totaled, police said.

Olsen-Zipse was arrested and faces one count of domestic assault causing injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail.
