Iowa City man accused of selling meth near elementary school

IOWA CITY - An Iowa City man is accused of selling meth within 1,000 feet of an elementary school.
According to Iowa City police criminal complaints, on Feb. 2, officers conducted a controlled purchase of 1 gram of meth from 46-year-old Dennis M. Delaney. Police said the purchase took place near Delaney's home at 857 Longfellow Place on the east side of Iowa City.
Police later served a search warrant at Delaney's residence and found two large baggies containing a white residue that field tested positive for meth. Delaney's residence is located 'approximately 1,000 feet” from Longfellow Elementary School, police said.
Delaney has been arrested and faces charges of controlled substance violation, a Class C felony; and keeping a drug house, an aggravated misdemeanor.
According to online court records, Delaney has prior convictions for assault, domestic assault and drunken driving.
