Complaint alleges Cedar Rapids man assaulted newborn, 4-year-old

A Cedar Rapids man is accused of assaulting two children, including one who was only four days old.
According to a Linn County Attorney's Office criminal complaint, on July 18, 34-year-old Travis A. Robinson assaulted two boys, as well as their mother. The complaint alleges that Robinson hit a 4-day-old infant, knocking him unconscious. Robinson also hit a 4-year-old boy, the documents state.
According to the complaint, Robinson also assaulted the childrens' mother for 30 minutes. The complaint states Robinson used 'personal weapons” and attempted to use a blunt object to assault the woman, causing her facial injuries. Robinson also prevented the woman from calling 911, according to the complaint.
Robinson has been charged with child endangerment causing serious injury, child endangerment, assault with intent to inflict serious injury and obstruction of emergency communication.
