Palo man accused of burglary at Iowa City dormitory

IOWA CITY - A Palo man is accused of assaulting a woman inside her dorm room.
According to the University of Iowa Department of Public Safety, around 6:30 a.m. Sept. 16, 19-year-old Mark C. Spicer went to the victim's dorm room at Mayflower Residence Hall. Police said when the victim answered the door, Spicer grabbed her and hit her in the face. Spicer then made his way into the dorm room, where he spit in the victim's face, police said.
Police said Spicer stole the victim's laptop and refused to give her phone back.
Spicer has been arrested and faces one county of second-degree burglary, a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
