Driver in fatal Hawkeye Downs crash identified

CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Police Department has identified the driver of the RV who was killed at Hawkeye Downs Speedway during a race event.
Police said John Pickart, 68, of Norway, Iowa, was fatally injured during the 'Race ‘Em and Wreck ‘Em” event at Hawkeye Downs Saturday night. During the school bus portion of the race at 8:15 p.m., Pickart's motor home overturned on the track.
Pickart was pronounced dead at the scene.
