IOWA CITY - An Iowa City couple faces numerous drug and child endangerment charges.
According to Johnson County Sheriff's Office criminal complaints, members of the Johnson County Drug Task Force served a narcotics search warrant at 1720 Hollywood Blvd. - the home of 30-year-old Ronda M. Broulik and 29-year-old Jacob S. Broulik - on Oct. 27. Police said a search of the residence turned up four one-pound, heat sealed bags of marijuana, a large amount of cash, a long gun and various drug paraphernalia. The couple admitted to police that they sold marijuana out of their home and had just received the four pounds of marijuana the week before.
Police said Jacob Broulik admitted to smoking marijuana nightly with his 15-year-old stepdaughter. He said the daughter knew her parents sold marijuana. Police said the girl also admitted to taking Adderall from her parents without a prescription to help with her homework and to drinking alcohol with them on at least one occasion. Police found a bottle of vodka in the girl's bedroom that she said came from her parents' liquor cabinet.
Both of the Brouliks have been arrested and face charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, a Class D felony; Iowa drug tax stamp violation, a Class D felony; keeping a drug house, an aggravated misdemeanor; and child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor. If convicted on all four charges, the couple could spend up to 14 years in prison.
The couple posted bond and was released from the Johnson County Jail on Monday, according to online jail records.
