Newhall man faces charges for July assault at Cedar Rapids bar

CEDAR RAPIDS - A Newhall man has been arrested in connection with a July assault.
According to the Linn County Attorney's Office, on July 6, 48-year-old James R. Brown approached the victim from behind in the Rumors Bar & Grill parking lot and punched him in the head. Police said the victim hit the ground, lost consciousness and suffered a brain bleed.
Brown, whose license is revoked, drove away from the scene following the assault, authorities said.
Authorities said on Aug. 22, Brown drove up beside the victim and a friend on Highway 30 and taunted them. Brown's license was still revoked at that time.
Brown has been arrested and charged with one count of willful injury and two counts of driving with a suspended license.
