Oct. 19, 2016 11:36 am
CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Police Department is hosting a drug drop-off event on Saturday.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., citizens can drop off their unwanted or unused prescription medications at the police station, 505 First St. SW. The event is part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
Other collection sites will also be available Saturday. Here are the collection sites for Linn County; check here for the collection sites for Johnson County.
Liquids, needles or other sharp objects cannot be collected at the event, police said. All other medications in pill or patch forms will be accepted free of charge and with no questions asked.
A filled drug drop box is shown in the lobby of the Cedar Rapids Police Department in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, May 31, 2016. The boxes are meant to provide an anonymous way for people to dispose of medicine with the goal of preventing prescription drug abuse in the community. (Rebecca F. Miller/The Gazette)
