Victim in Tower Terrace fatal crash identified

CEDAR RAPIDS - A Marion man has been identified as the victim in a fatal crash Monday on Tower Terrace Road.

Cedar Rapids public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said 54-year-old Richard Hartl was eastbound on Tower Terrace Road in his 2008 Land Rover around 3:39 p.m. Monday. Buelow said Hartl left the roadway, went airborne across Miller Road and landed in a yard in the 4700 block of Tower Terrace Road.

Hartl was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The crash remains under investigation.
