Woman rescued from Cedar River

CEDAR RAPIDS - Cedar Rapids authorities rescued a woman from the Cedar River Monday afternoon.
Public safety spokesman Greg Buelow said firefighters responded to the area of Edgewood Boulevard and Ellis Road around 1:30 p.m. after a couple of witnesses reported seeing a woman about waist deep in the flooded Cedar River before losing sight of her.
Buelow said a fire rescue boat was deployed and firefighters searched for the woman in an area with several trees just south of the Edgewood Road bridge. The woman was located in a tree, Buelow said.
Buelow said the woman the woman was rescued and was back on shore at 3:17 p.m. She was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation, he said.
